This program focuses predominantly on 4 main topics, each topic being covered in an AM or PM session over the two days. These fundamentals are essential in the ever increasing use of dental implants within the UK. This course will empower delegates to identify patients that are suitable for implants,  work in close collaboration with their implant surgeons and have the knowledge and skills to monitor, maintain and manage minor complications in dental implants.  

An introduction to implants

  • Identifying patients suitable for implants

  • Risk factors 

  • Terminology used in dental implants

  • Timing of implant placements: immediate, early vs delayed. (This knowledge will influence your decision to extract a tooth)

  • The role of CBCT

  • Biomaterials: when they are needed, when they are not

 

Socket preservation in general practice

  • When is socket preservation indicated

  • Bio-materials used 

  • How to implement this technique in practice

  • Hands on - Socket preservation on models

Surgical placement of implants

  • Delegates will have first hand experience of understanding the role of planning, using stents, and how to assess sites suitable for dental implants

  • Hands on - Placement of dental implants using a restoratively driven approach

  • Hands on - Suturing techniques 

Restoring implants

  • Terminology: healing caps, cover screws, impression copings, abutments

  • Hands on - How to restore dental implants

  • Managing and monitoring patients on dental implants: what to look out for in your check ups

75% of the delegates that attended this course in 2022 have been influenced and have since started placing or restoring implants. 25% of the delegates are planning on embarking on this journey within the next 12 months.

100% of the delegates have done at least one socket preservation case within 3 months of completing this course.
